George Hongchoy, Group Chief Executive Officer of Link Asset Management Limited (Link), attended the Link Hong Kong Open 2024 “Meet the Players” press conference today and delivered the following remarks.
The Link Hong Kong Open will be held this year at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling from 21 to 24 November.
Opening remarks
Our star golf players, distinguished guests from the Hong Kong Golf Club, the Asian Tour, the International Series and the Golf Association of Hong Kong China, ladies and gentlemen of the press.
A warm welcome to today’s exciting event. As the new title sponsor for the Link Hong Kong Open, it gives me immense pride to see the start of our partnership being brought to life both today and over the rest of this week as the Link Hong Kong Open finally tees off. It is a moment that all of us at Link have been eagerly waiting for over the last few months.
The Hong Kong Open is a marquee event that puts Hong Kong on the world map and at the centre of the global sporting calendar every year. Seeing all the star players and VIP guests who have travelled from all over the world to take part this week is wonderful reminder just how historic and prestigious the Hong Kong Open really is. We hope that everyone enjoys visiting Hong Kong and experiencing the competition.
Hong Kong’s golfing experience is something we should be extremely proud of as a city. This partnership allows Link to do our part in promoting the game of golf on a bigger scale and making it more accessible to everyone, including those in our local communities.
This is in keeping with the overall theme of the Link Hong Kong Open which is Open For All. We sincerely want to help expand access to golf especially through our unique and privileged position with deep ties to our communities that spans most of the local districts across Hong Kong.
As a first step this year, we arranged our first ever “Link Golf Experience Day” at some of our shopping malls to raise awareness about the game while engaging the public to learn about the sport through fun and games. We also want to contribute to the growth and development of younger generations of golfers who want to compete on the professional circuit and hope our support of the Link Hong Kong Open can inspire a new generation of local heroes like our very own Taichi Kho sitting here. We have committed to partner with the Hong Kong Golf Club over the coming years and will be doing more in the years ahead.
