Link Asset Management Limited (Link) held a lighting ceremony today (Wednesday) to mark the 15th anniversary of the listing of Link Real Estate Investment Trust (Link REIT, Hong Kong stock code: 823) in Hong Kong. At the ceremony, Link announced the rebranding of Link REIT’s Mainland portfolio and kick-off “Project Together”. Link is the manager of Link REIT.
The lighting ceremony was held at The Quayside, Link’s headquarters, where the Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan delivered virtual officiating remarks and the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission Chairman Tim Lui gave an opening address. The lighting ceremony was officiated by Link Chairman Nicholas Allen and Chief Executive Officer George Hongchoy and Mr Lui. The ceremony was a hybrid one, with the majority of guests joining virtually.
In his speech, Financial Secretary Paul Chan congratulated Link on its milestone 15 th anniversary, and said, “The Hong Kong SAR Government is determined to expand Hong Kong REIT market, broadening investors’ choice, adding diversity and liquidity to our financial market. Boosting our REIT market will also enhance Hong Kong’s status as an asset and wealth management centre.” He noted that as a green finance pioneer, Link has shown the way in sustainability financing, and the brighter way for Hong Kong.
“Congratulations to Link REIT on its 15th Anniversary,” said Mr Lui. “REITs are an important asset class for investors and we hope to see the REIT market continue to grow in both breadth and depth. This will help promote sustainable, long-term market development and build Hong Kong as a premier global asset and wealth management centre.”
“As we continue to navigate through this time of uncertainty, we remain steadfast in adhering to the core strengths that have made us successful over the last 15 years – to deliver sustainable growth while managing the risk and volatility in a resilient portfolio,” Mr Allen said at the ceremony.
“Our Business As Mutual ethos recognises the interactive framework for business operations to improve society’s overall resilience and long-term sustainability via collaboration. By engaging business partners, NGOs, tenants, employees, investors and communities, we can provide better solutions that are mutually beneficially and have greater impact on society,” Mr Hongchoy said.
To better connect with customers in Mainland China, Link is rebranding its retail properties in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to “Link Plaza” in phases. A new website (linkreitchina.com) was also launched to showcase Link’s growth story, vision and service offerings to customers.
Link believes that one’s environment can have a significant impact on one’s well-being. To continue to deliver its long-term commitment to building vibrant communities, Link introduced “Project Together” today. With the support of Link’s business partners, asset enhancement works will be carried out on a pro bono basis for 20 welfare tenants in Link REIT’s portfolio in a pilot scheme, aiming to strengthen the facilities’ function as social hubs and create happy spaces for the community to enjoy and thrive in.
Enhancement works will commence at Fu Shin (Tai Po), Wan Tsui (Chai Wan), and Tsz Wan Shan (Kowloon East) from next year. Link would like to express its deepest gratitude to the contributions of the following consultants and contractors (in alphabetical order):
